Trick or treat? Tonight's weather forecast is in From The Detroit News:

Eenie meenie, chili beanie, the weather spirits are about to speak! And the spirits (also known as the National Weather Service) says Halloween night should be a good time for trick or treating.

"We will have some showers during the afternoon, but they should be pulling out pretty quick about 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.," said meteorologist Mike Richter. "So things shouldn't be too bad at all for the kids between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. We're looking at light winds from 5 to 7 miles per hour and temperatures in the upper 40s.

"So no rain out or cold snaps for the kids."

AAA of Michigan is warning motorists that darkness is now descending earlier now as Daylight Savings Time nears its ending on Sunday.

That, coupled with good weather for little zombies, princesses, ghouls and goblins, means the danger factor will rise significantly for kids, especially those in dark costumes.

"The risk of becoming a pedestrian fatality increases four times during Halloween," said Jack Peet, manager of Community Safety Services for AAA Michigan, who recommends the following safety tips. Slow down: Make sure you drive slowly through neighborhoods as kids dart from house to house. Look for children around porches, front lawns and near cars, not just sidewalks. Parents are encouraged to walk with children door to door, escorting them across streets (preferably at intersections and designated crossings.)

Children and parents should wear light-colored clothing or costumes with reflective material/tape for higher visibility. Luminescent "glow sticks" help to illuminate children.
