The Pirate Bay Did Not Get Shut Down

By Zach Walton

The Pirate Bay went down for quite some time today. Whenever the site goes down for more than five minutes, people begin to fear the worst. There was also the small coincidence of The Pirate Bay’s former host being raided by the police today that added to the concern.

Well, the folks from The Pirate Bay are here to set the record straight. They were not raided by the police, nor were they shut down.

So what’s the problem? According to TorrentFreak , and a subsequent post on the site’s Facebook wall , it’s just a simple power outage. For now, there’s nothing to worry about.

What about The Pirate Bay’s former host being raided? According to TorrentFreak , police raided Swedish hosting company PRQ today. They were reportedly trying to find servers containing copyrighted material. The hosting company may have been targeted because it was founded by two of The Pirate Bay’s co-founders, and used to house the servers used by The Pirate Bay in 2006. Several torrent sites that were hosted on PRQ’s servers have been taken offline as a result of the police raid.

Long story short, The Pirate Bay is doing just fine. The site is not hosted at PRQ, and a power outage is to blame for the current downtime. It’s a little strange that the downtime coincided with the police raid, but stranger things have happened.

Good Jokes

by: Tal Gur

Good jokes are good because not only it will bring laughter to the people, but it will also not offend other people. Good jokes or commonly called clean jokes are those that don’t contain a foul and green intent. They share humor that can be

presented to all kinds of age, whether you are a child who understands the concept of the joke, or an adult. Mark Twain is of those who write good jokes; he is an American author as well as a humorist. An example of his works would be the Adventures of Huckleberry Fin, and the Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

There are many types of jokes that are made, one example is the Question and Answer (Q&A) jokes. These are some examples of Q&A jokes:

Q: “Where do you find a no legged dog?” A:”Right where you left him.”

Q:”What do get from a pampered cow?” A:”Spoiled milk.”

Q:”How do crazy people go through the forest?” A:”They take the psycho path.”

Q:”What do you call a cheese that isn’t yours?” A:”Nacho cheese.”

Q:”Why don’t blind people like to sky dive?” A:”Because it scares the dog.”

There are also one-liner jokes that are short but deliver the humor through the straight to the point punch line. Here are some examples for one-liner jokes:

“Boys are like parking spaces, the good ones are take-in!!!”

“The Magician was driving down the road… then he turned into a driveway.”

“To a worm, digging in the hard ground is more relaxing than going fishing.”

“I believe in dragons, good men, and other fantasy creatures.”

“No more about Elvis, OK? Thankyouvermuch.”

“I finally got my head together, now my body is falling apart.”

Meanwhile, there are also Good Jokes that depict a story and at the end of the story is the punch line. They usually portray people with their stupidity and dullness which makes people laugh at the end. Here are some examples of short story jokes:

Windy Tale?

“Three retirees, each with hearing loss, were playing golf one fine March day. One remarked to the other , ‘Windy, isn’t it?’ ‘No,’ the second man replied, ‘it’s Thursday.’ The third man chimed in, ‘So am I. Let’s have a beer.’”

Secret Service?

“A Friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside: The pastor said to him, ‘You need to join the Army of the Lord!’ My friend replied, ‘I’m already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor.’ Pastor questioned, ‘How come I don’t see you except at Christmas and Easter?’ He whispered back, ‘I’m in the secret service.’”

Shame

“‘You should be ashamed,’ the father told his son, Andy, ‘When Abraham Lincoln was your age, he used to walk ten miles everyday to get to school.’ ‘Really?’ Andy responded. ‘Well, when he was your age, he was president.’

There are many Good Jokes that are very funny to hear yet is clean and available for all to hear. Your funny experiences in your life can also be made into a joke so that you can make people laugh. Just be happy and make people laugh because as the saying goes by Mark Twain “The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.”

CPR and First Aid Training Can be Useful For Saving Human lives

by: Jennythomas970

CPR is the short form of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation which is a procedure performed to restore the functions of breathing and blood circulation. It is a short emergency procedure which saves your life in case you had cardiac arrest. CPR and first aid training are given to patients who have lost their normal breathing and it should be performed quickly and effectively before taking the patient to the hospital. The procedure of CPR is simple and you can easily learn it if you get trained.

The patient should be made to lie down on the floor and his chest should be compressed for minimum 5cm deep and the rate of compression made should be at least 100 times per minute. By making the pumping action the patient is helped to restore his breathing functions and blood circulation. Apart from this training is also given to give breathing by exhaling air into the mouth of the patient. Sometimes special devices are used for pumping air into the lungs of the patient. This procedure of giving artificial respiration is called ventilation.

In any case of emergency, CPR alone is not sufficient to recover the patient. It can help to regulate the blood flow to the brain and to delay the tissue death of the brain. Further the patient should be given electric shock using defibrillation technique to restore the functions of the heart. If you take training in proper training institutes you can help the patient to recover in crucial moments. When someone gets heart attack, everybody in the room will be in a state of shock and panic so that no one would offer to do something immediately. In such cases within few seconds of heart attack, the person will be unable to breathe and it stops the blood supply to the brain.

The brain damage will advance gradually and in some cases it may end up the life. In such a situation you need not go in search of a doctor. Anyone who has undergone CPR training can help to save the patient’s life. You can just spring into action and provide artificial respiration and facilitate the blood supply to the heart by effective CPR method.

It does not need a medical degree to get the certificate of CPR and first aid training. After completing the training you can easily find some job like teaching to give training. Apart from that you will be saving human life which is priceless and think how much the family of the affected person would thank your timely help. The training classes are offered by number of private organizations and in high schools.

Three Habits of Effective Project Leadership & Six Keys to Successful Project-Based Work

by: Ty Kiesel

Three Habits of Effective Project Leadership

For any organization doing project based work, the need for leadership and collaboration is critical. Unfortunately, for many organizations, developing leadership is a challenge—there are never enough leaders in an organization and getting people to collaborate is often a challenge.

Here are three leadership principles that can help you effectively manage project teams in today's complicated business climate:

1. Lead Yourself First. My colleagues and I used to call this walking the talk. If you don't practice what you preach, how can you lead others.

2. Encourage Ownership. The more people feel of sense of ownership, the more responsibility team members will feel for the outcome. Identifying what a positive or negative outcome means to the team will encourage a sense of ownership.

3. Follow-Up. I don't think it's any secret, but leaders get the behaviors they reinforce.

It really doesn't matter what type of project based work you do or your particular work management methodology, project managers who spend time learning and implementing leadership skills are more successful than those that don't. As more and more organization turn to project and portfolio management best practices to make their organizations more efficient, the need for skilled project managers—those who know how to lead people as well as manage process—will continue to grow.

What are you doing to improve your leadership skills?

Six Keys to Successful Project-Based Work

"Wax on, right hand. Wax off, left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breath in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don't forget to breathe, very important."

In the 1984 movie The Karate Kid, Mr. Miagi, an apartment complex maintenance man, becomes an unlikely karate teacher for Daniel Laruso, a high-school kid in trouble with a bunch of local karate-bullies. With an unorthodox teaching style, Daniel-san's first karate lessons includes waxing Mr. Miagi's cars—all four of them.

So what does this have to do with project based work?

Without giving a play-by-play of the whole story, Mr. Miagi taught Daniel the basic techniques and skills that would allow him to defend himself. I've observed that there are some basic project management fundamentals that are common to any successful project and portfolio management methodology.

Successful project managers focus on what matters most. Here are six suggestions:

1. Make sure the project has a strong sponsor. Every project needs a sponsor who will evangelize the value of the initiative throughout the life of the project.

2. Make sure the project is adequately funded. The temptation is to take whatever funding is offered, but without adequate funding—it's usually the project manager who ends up in hot water when the project fails for lack of financial resources.

3. Pick the right team. Make sure the team includes all the skills that will be needed for success. Just because someone is available, doesn't always mean they are the best to work on your project.

4. Plan. Planning is more than just preparing to deliver the final product. It should involve a continual process of evaluation and adjustment.

5. Know the end before you begin. Make sure you know what the outcome of a successful project is before you start. What does "done" mean? Financial experts call this an "exit plan."

6. Prepare for change. The very nature of projects create change. Whether it's a new product or an improvement in process or technology. Makes sure to prepare for the change.

Jason Aldean and The Band Perry early CMA winners

by Associated Press Posted on November 9, 2011 at 11:06 PM Updated Wednesday, Nov 9 at 11:05 PM

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — It's Jason Aldean's party at the Country Music Association Awards, but a melancholy song about dying young by rising stars The Band Perry is the early surprise.

Country music's biggest night Wednesday started with unexpected appearances by Hank Williams Jr., Barbie dolls of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and plenty of crossover appeal. But it was Kimberly Perry's poignant song "If I Die Young" that was everyone's focus.

"It's just always felt like a song that was meant to be here," Perry said as she was flanked by brothers and bandmates Reid and Neil Perry. "I was so excited to have a pen and paper in hand when it was ready to come to Earth." The band is also up for new artist of the year honors which will be handed out later in the evening.

Aldean won his first major CMA award, taking album of the year for "My Kinda Party," his platinum-selling album. The CD also included "Don't You Wanna Stay," his duet with Kelly Clarkson, which won musical event of the year. Blake Shelton and Kenny Loggins opened the show with a high-energy version of Loggins' hit "Footloose," quickly establishing a theme for what is a very eclectic night.

Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter continued that trend when they won video of the year for their steamy "You and Tequila." Lionel Richie had every star buzzing on the red carpet before performing duets from his new country album with Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker and Little Big Town. He posed for a picture with Miranda Lambert and gave advice to Lady Antebellum on the red carpet. Chesney told him he used Richie's songs on a mixtape he gave a girl in high school.

Gregg Allman joined fellow Peach State natives Zac Brown Band on "Georgia on my Mind," Natasha Bedingfield, in a dress that featured a fluffy red skirt, joined Rascal Flatts on stage to perform their duet "Easy," and that was just the start of genre shuffling.

"Gregg Allman, I was the one who reached out and touched you on the red carpet," Jennifer Nettles said from the stage after Sugarland won vocal duo of the year for the fifth straight time. "He didn't know who I was, but I really like you." Williams appeared during the opening skit Wednesday night with hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who lampooned his recent troubles with ESPN and his "Monday Night Football" theme song. Paisley brought out an acoustic guitar and began his own version of "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight." "Are you ready for an awards show?" Paisley sang before Underwood warned him he might draw Williams' ire.

As they spoke, Williams quietly walked up behind the hosts to the roar from the crowd. Asked if he wanted to say something, Williams said, "No," to the delight of the audience.

It was just one of several laugh-out-loud moments for the hosts, who trotted out Barbies of McGraw and Hill after Williams left the stage. "I can't wait until after the show," Paisley said to Underwood. "Can we play with them now?"

The two made the dolls kiss and before checking to see if the McGraw doll was anatomically correct. "There's nothing there," Paisley said in amazement. The camera cut to McGraw and Hill, who raised her arms and mouthed the words, "I know," receiving the night's biggest laugh.
